Collect Bean: What is one of your current goals as an artist?

Samantha Noelia Ferrer: I’ve spent the past two years honing my style and developing my visual language through clay. My goal is to keep refining it so that anyone who sees my work will instantly recognize it as mine.

Collect Bean: Where are you currently finding inspiration?

Samantha Noelia Ferrer: I’ve been listening to the Rocky soundtrack on repeat, scrolling through Pinterest, and finally finishing Naruto. All of these have been feeding into my creative process.

Collect Bean: What role does color play in your practice?

Samantha Noelia Ferrer: Color is a huge part of my work’s identity. My pieces are typically bright, vibrant, and tropical—a reflection of growing up in Miami’s lush environment. My palette pays homage to that experience.

Collect Bean: How do you approach the balance between experimentation and consistency in your art?

Samantha Noelia Ferrer: Working with ceramics offers so many possibilities, from different techniques and glazes to making mosaics, functional pieces, or full-on sculptures. Each new project is an opportunity to try something different while keeping the essence of my style intact, which keeps my work fresh and exciting.

Collect Bean: How do you balance your practice with your daily life?

Samantha Noelia Ferrer: Honestly, there’s not much balance right now. Between working a full-time job, starting an art studio, and developing my craft, it’s a constant grind. I go to the gym when I can and keep an electric frying pan in the studio to stay somewhat healthy while meeting deadlines.

Collect Bean: What does an ideal day in your studio look like?

Samantha Noelia Ferrer: It starts with a cafecito. My sister and I usually have a reality show like 90 Day Fiancé or Catfish playing in the background while we work. Having her there is great because I can always get feedback. It feels like any other job, but with more creativity flowing.

Collect Bean: If you could be in a show with any artist, who would it be and why?

Samantha Noelia Ferrer: If I could show my work alongside anyone, it would be Enrique Martínez Celaya and Hernan Bas. They’ve been huge inspirations to me, especially as I grew up seeing their work locally. Hernan Bas even went to my school. It would be a dream to share a show with them one day.

Collect Bean: Do you have a saying that you live by?

Samantha Noelia Ferrer: “Your life does not get better by chance; it gets better by change.”
