Collect Bean: What is one of your current goals as an artist?

Jingyi Wang: My current goal is to become an artist who transmits positive energy. I hope to heal some of the audience who are disappointed with the world. Through my artwork, they could find a pure space in their minds amid this anxious reality.

Collect Bean: Where are you currently finding inspiration?

Jingyi Wang: My inspiration often comes from what I meet and feel in my daily life, such as comedy movies, music, breaking news, and travel.

Collect Bean: What role does color play in your practice?

Jingyi Wang: Color is extremely important in my work, and I tend to use bright hues. The palette of my work naturally reflects my mood during the creative process.

Collect Bean: Are there any artists or movements that have inspired or influenced your work?

Jingyi Wang: My creative concept comes from surrealism; my method of observation and painting skills are influenced by Realism and Impressionism. Claude Monet, René Magritte, Georgia O'Keeffe, and Frida Kahlo are the artists who have influenced me.

Collect Bean: If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

Jingyi Wang: Keep working hard, and don’t forget to enjoy life.

Collect Bean: Do you have a saying that you live by?

Jingyi Wang: Don’t let disappointment destroy all hope.

Collect Bean: If you had to describe your work in only three words, what would they be?

Jingyi Wang: Bright, silent and intense.
